How does Limbex work?

The focus of Limbex is to maintain the health of the connective tissue of the joints, an important part of joint function. Its ingredients are supposed to support cartilage, the strength of which is crucial to joints maintaining their strength and not wearing down, by stimulating the creation of chondrocytes – the cells that make up cartilage. They also reduce inflammation, so that you’re less likely to feel the pressure and pain associated with inflamed tissues.

Other functions of the supplement are to promote more joint fluid production, which can help the joint move more flexibly, as well as to prevent cellular and tissue deterioration by promoting antioxidant actions in the blood, limiting the oxidation process that causes that same damage.

This product works differently from drugs, which would affect the nervous system or directly affect the body itself, as the ingredients in this supplement are supposed to stimulate the body’s natural processes, with the aim of affecting the body in a less drastic, more holistic and natural way.

Top Benefits: Contains chondroitin and glucosamine, two well-known joint health products, and is made to GMP standards.

Negatives: Some ingredients have very little clinical proof backing them up, and the product is a little expensive.

What’s inside of it and are there side effects?

The majority of the ingredients in this supplement are derived from natural sources, mainly plants, herbs, and roots. It also includes two vitamins, C and E, which are mainly intended to provide antioxidant action. At least one of the ingredients either contains or is derived from shellfish products, so people who have allergies to shellfish or are vegan/vegetarian should probably not use this product.

The following are some of the active ingredients in this product:

Glucosamine: This product is considered an “amino sugar” and while it is also naturally produced in the human body, supplement forms of it are mostly extracted from shellfish. As a nutrient, glucosamine is supposed to be able to strengthen the joint cushion that surrounds it, keeping it protected and capable. It should be noted that technically it’s glucosamine sulfate that’s considered the better supplemental version of glucosamine, as regards joint health.

Turmeric Root: This root and its extract are often used in naturopathic medicine as a natural anti-inflammatory ingredient. One additional benefit is that this extract contains curcumin, a compound that can improve the body’s ability to absorb nutrients.

Chondroitin Sulfate: This ingredient is an important part of cartilage production, mainly in the joints, and is a common part of joint health products that are meant to treat osteoarthritis, mainly in a blend with other ingredients. It’s supposed to be able to slow the breakdown of cartilage, a crucial part of maintaining joint health.

ApresFlex: A proprietary version of extract from the Indian frankincense plant, which is supposed to be good at relieving inflammation in the joints. The company also claims that it’s able to help with the formation of collagen, another important part of the joints connected with cartilage. There isn’t a whole lot of science behind frankincense as a medicinal remedy, and side effects from using it too much or for too long could include:

  • Stomach pains, diarrhea, nausea

Bromelain: An enzyme found commonly in pineapples, it’s used in natural medicine that’s mean to work as a muscle relaxant and anti-inflammatory. It’s supposed to also work as a natural anesthetic, which can provide pain relief. However, it doesn’t seem to work at all when taken alone (according to WebMD), and evidence for its medicinal benefits is very slim indeed.

Pomegranate Fruit: This extract is meant to reduce the amount of chemicals that trigger the inflammatory response, lowering inflammation, and is also supposed to possess potent antioxidant qualities.

Green Tea Leaf: Another anti-inflammatory, this one is supposed to work by reducing the production of prostaglandins which cause inflammation in the first place.

Holy Basil Leaf: An Indian plant used in ancient Ayurvedic medicine for inflammation, because it supposedly contains chemicals that somehow reduce the body’s inflammatory response. According to WebMD, unfortunately, there isn’t really enough evidence to tell whether it’s safe to take holy basil as a regular supplement for a long period of time.

Piperine: An extract from black pepper intended to make the body absorb nutrients more quickly, by increasing the “bioavailability” of other ingredients. It’s also supposed to have its own ability to reduce inflammation.

What’s good about Limbex?

Some of the ingredients in this supplement, especially the glucosamine, chondroitin, and turmeric, are well-known for their ability to help maintain better joint health, which is why they’re commonly used. The company’s emphasis on natural ingredients is also a plus, showing a sense of dedication to providing safe, holistic treatments that aren’t harsh on the body like some drugs can be.

The products this company sells are all from GMP-certified facilities, which means they’ve passed inspection standards for hygiene, workplace safety, and ingredient purity and quality. They also have a number of doctors on their advisory team to give suggestions and help with the development of some of their formulas.

These joint supplements made our Top 10 list.

What’s bad about Limbex?

In spite of the fact that this product contains a couple ingredients that are supposed to be effective and safe treatments for joint pain, other ingredients in this mixture are not as high quality. Bromelain and frankincense have very little scientific evidence supporting claims of their medicinal benefits, and holy basil hasn’t been studied enough to know exactly if it has side effects or is safe for taking for an extended period of time.

The presence of these untested, little-proven ingredients could possibly water down the overall formula, potentially making it weaker and less effective than some of its competition.

The price is also a little high – $44.95 for a one-month supply – and the only way to get a decent deal is by signing up for an auto-payment scheme where the company processes your credit card automatically each month and sends you a new bottle of pills when you’re done. Some customers have been scammed by companies that use this auto-ship process, as some companies have shown bad faith and purposely made it difficult for people to cancel programs or get their money back.

What do customers think about Limbex?

There are only a couple of customer reviews on the Limbex website, so we looked to Amazon for a better overall sense of what customers think of this product:

“This really didn’t live up to the promises the company made.”

“I’m almost done with my first bottle, and I’ve noticed that I don’t have pain in my hip. It’s possible that it worked.”

“Now that I’m taking these pills, I can now walk up stairs without hurting, although walking down stairs still hurts me.”

“I definitely noticed a positive difference in my life after taking these pills for a couple months. I guess the effect is supposed to be a subtle one.”

As you can see, even the positive reviews of this product come with mentions that it takes a long time to work, and that it doesn’t always fully eliminate joint pain and inflammation.

These health supplements can help you to boost the health of your joints.

Conclusion

Limbex has arguments both for and against using it. On the one hand, it does contain some quality ingredients and is made to high standards in a GMP-certified lab. On the other, it’s a little pricey, and customers’ reactions are a little mixed, even with their positive testimonials. That, and some of the ingredients in the mix aren’t very high quality and have little evidence to support them. The truth is that there are better alternatives to this product out there on the market.

Despite all the competition, Flexitrinol remains the best supplement we’ve seen for people who want a life free of joint problems. Click here for more about Flexitrinol, the best supplement for joint pain.
