What’s inside of it and are there side effects?

The majority of the ingredients in this supplement are derived from natural sources, mainly plants, herbs, and roots. It also includes two vitamins, C and E, which are mainly intended to provide antioxidant action. At least one of the ingredients either contains or is derived from shellfish products, so people who have allergies to shellfish or are vegan/vegetarian should probably not use this product.

The following are some of the active ingredients in this product:

Glucosamine: This product is considered an “amino sugar” and while it is also naturally produced in the human body, supplement forms of it are mostly extracted from shellfish. As a nutrient, glucosamine is supposed to be able to strengthen the joint cushion that surrounds it, keeping it protected and capable. It should be noted that technically it’s glucosamine sulfate that’s considered the better supplemental version of glucosamine, as regards joint health.

Turmeric Root: This root and its extract are often used in naturopathic medicine as a natural anti-inflammatory ingredient. One additional benefit is that this extract contains curcumin, a compound that can improve the body’s ability to absorb nutrients.

Green Tea Leaf: Another anti-inflammatory, this one is supposed to work by reducing the production of prostaglandins which cause inflammation in the first place.

Holy Basil Leaf: An Indian plant used in ancient Ayurvedic medicine for inflammation, because it supposedly contains chemicals that somehow reduce the body’s inflammatory response. According to WebMD, unfortunately, there isn’t really enough evidence to tell whether it’s safe to take holy basil as a regular supplement for a long period of time.

Piperine: An extract from black pepper intended to make the body absorb nutrients more quickly, by increasing the “bioavailability” of other ingredients. It’s also supposed to have its own ability to reduce inflammation.

Some of the ingredients in this supplement, especially the glucosamine, chondroitin, and turmeric, are well-known for their ability to help maintain better joint health, which is why they’re commonly used.
