How does Genacol work?

If using their basic Original formula they advise 3 capsules daily, and they offer a 180 counts or 90 day count bottle. They recommend using it either at bedtime or as directed by a healthcare provider.

The reason why they highlight their patented form of collagen is because it is made to be as similar to human collagen in order for it to be fully absorbed. This also has what is described as the:

“lowest molecular sized peptides”

By making it so small it can be easily absorbed and made as effective as possible by the body.

Many supplements for joint health were reviewed and the following were considered to be the best of the year.

Top Benefits: Only natural additives are used and the key active ingredient is both grass-fed and pasture-raised to ensure that comes from a quality source. No GMO additives of any kind are used, and they help explain the benefits of their patented additive.

Negatives: With just one ingredient added it is not as comprehensive as other solutions which are more comprehensive. Some consumers also had odd side effects and it’s unknown why this is so.

After much review the following 10 supplements were considered to be the best at reducing joint pain while improving joint health.

Who makes this supplement?

Their name is Genacol International Corporation, Inc. and to reach them they offer their contact details as:

Address: 81 Rue Gaston-Dumoulin

            Blainville, QC J7C 6B4, Canada

Phone Number: (888) 514-3622

Their official website does not mention at all whether on rot they offer a money back return policy. This likely means that all sales are final and no returns are offered.

You can’t find much information about their practices from many 3d party websites but it’s clear they have not had any serious issues.

They also had 3 different clinical studies done on their version of collagen.

Here’s a full breakdown of brands which could best enhances mobility, reduce joint pain, and help regenerate tissue.

What’s inside of it and are there side effects?

The ingredients can vary on the specific version used, here are some common ingredients:

AminoLock Hydrolyzed Collagen from bovine: Patented structural protein that is taken from cow which are only fed grass and allowed to graze on a pasture. This is intended to be a better way to treat cows which can result in less stress and healthier cattle.

This form of collagen is intended to be easier for the body to digest and metabolize so it can be transformed into usable collagen for humans.

Genacol is the only source for this patented ingredient. 3 studied in particular are mentioned by the official website.

Unfortunately after reviewing the studies there were unimpressive results.  A study by the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine that performed a randomized controlled study had different groups and they found that:

“No significant difference… after 6 months”

This was in comparison to a cheap anti-inflammatory drug. Another study in the ScienceDirect journal concluded with:

“More studies are needed”

The final study by the University of the Philippines ended with:

“possibly limitation… duration of intervention”

They added that there has to be longer studies to ensure that it would actually be effective. So even their cited studies all had issues either with the length, need for additional studies, or the compared results were similar to cheap drugs.

Sodium Benzoate: Added only to the ready to drink versions of Genacol, this is a common preservative added to liquids to help prevent spoiling.  The legal amounts are regulated since in excess this may lead to unwanted side effects. This can potentially cause:

  • Upset stomach, nausea and vomiting.
  • ADHD, benzene formation, and immune system damage.

Stevia: All-natural plant sweetener which can substitute sugar and provide a sweet taste without the associated potential side effects such as tooth decay and obesity. This is considered a diabetic friendly sugar since it does not affect blood sugar in the same way as standard sugar.

Caramel Color: An inactive ingredient that gives this a unique brown like color. This is processed and made artificially. This is created through carbohydrates hat are treated with heat. Excess amounts of this can be potentially hazardous as it can form a carcinogen known as 4-methyllimidazoler or 4-Mel. Health watchdog groups have requested for the banning of this article color since it has no health benefits and it can be replaced by more wholesome ingredients.

Potassium Sorbate: Made synthetically or taken from natural sources, this is used as a preservative to help stop the growth of mold and fungi.  It is only allowed in certain amounts since it can potentially lead to side effects if taken in excess:

  • Rash, itching, and allergies.

Erythritol: Sugar alcohol free of calories and which has a very small effect on blood sugar, much less than standard sugar. It is an alternative sweetener that is intended to be safe to take. Large amounts can potentially lead to:

  • Upset stomach, headache, and diarrhea.

These picks were carefully selected and shown to be optimal for the enhancement of joint function in the short and long-term.

What’s good about Genacol?

They made sure to get 3 clinical reviews done on the main active ingredient, and this is the only source for this additive. Collagen in general is seen as an effective way to help rebuild more collagen in the human body.

There are also only natural ingredients in the Original supplement form.

You can get different serving sizes and some versions of this have additional Glucosamine and Chondroitin for additional joint health support.

What’s bad about Genacol?

If discussing the Original formula it’s clear that it is far too basic. Just one active ingredient is used and though it has been reviewed in 3 clinical studies, all of these were flawed and in the review it concluded with the idea that more reach would be required before making a decision on its effectiveness.

The drinkable versions have 2 unnecessary preservatives which may be harmful in large amounts.

Overall you’re getting a fairly basic formula, there isn’t anything unique about this brand and though they do have an optimal form of collagen, there has to be more scientific evidence presented before making a decision.

Some customers experienced some strange side effects related to weight gain, and other common symptoms were seen such as digestive issues. For some this was too much and it made it hard for them to continue supplementing.

The supplements in this list had the most positive user experiences for the relief of joint discomfort.

What do consumers think about Genacol?

“Maybe it can have an effect for others but for my nerve and chronic pain I had no changes”

“After dealing with really bad knee surgery I was hoping that this would work and I di notice some relief room pain”

“Not sure what happened but after a week I started noticing I started getting heavier”

“Noticed an improvement in my sleep and a loss of pain, my movement was more fluid as well”

The best pills for natural joint pain relief are all featured in a complete top 10 list available here.

Conclusion

The interesting thing about this supplement is that its active ingredient is reviewed in 3 clinical studies. This would typically mean that there is a lot of information to support its use, but keep in mind when reviewing these studies always ended with the need for further proof to show what is possible. Some even said that the results ended up being the same as their control group that is cheaper and more easily accessible.

There are also the questionable side effects that some consumers experienced even in the basic formula which has only natural ingredients. There were changes in digestive health, weight, and overall wellness.  The added collagen is a good ingredient but if you’re getting the Original it’s not well-rounded enough. Other versions are still basic or they have unwanted preservatives while also having basic active additives.
